Origin: lgc. Landing-place: terminal.

Lgc generates this progress message at verbosity level 3+ when it tries to read a file with a given name. In some cases the file does not exist and lgc just goes on trying some other file. As an example, if one asks lgc to compile a file named abc then lgc will first try to read abc and then abc.lgs. Both attempts give rise to a 'Reading file' message.
