Origin: lgc. Landing-place: terminal.

An escape sequence comprises two or more double quote characters followed by one character which is not a double quote. The 'Unknown escape in definition' error message indicates that lgc found an escape sequence inside a definition section which did not make sense in that context. As an example, the following gives an 'Unknown escape in definition':

   ""D 1.2.3
   " + "
   ""E

Comments can be used anywhere. Apart from that, the escape sequences which make sense in definition sections are:

""P Ends definition section and defines page name.
""R Ends definition section and defines reference.
""D Ends definition section and starts new definition section.
""B Ends definition section and starts or continues body.
""n May be used as alternative for newline inside definition sections.
