The only reserved character of the lgs language is the double quote character ". That the double quote character is reserved is hardcoded into the language and cannot be changed.
Double quote characters are used for many, different purposes, depending on context. Among other, they are used for enclosing string constants, but that is only one among many, different uses.
We shall refer to a sequence of two or more double quote characters followed by one character which is not a double quote as an escape sequence. Whenever the lgc compiler sees two double quote characters in a row, it sees it as the start of an escape sequence. The lgc compiler always treats an escape sequence as a whole, regardless of context.
