Consider the following lgs source text:

   - a - b -

In this case, the body reads:

[[- a] - b] -

The three kinds of minus have the same charge. Furthermore, the constructs are preassociative because the charge is even. Thus, associativity pushes parentheses to the left.

If the constructs had had charge 7 they would have been postassociative, and the body would have been read as follows:

- [a - [b -]]
